What is PACTMed treatment?
PACTMed stands for Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy.
The principle of Photodynamic Antimicrobial Therapy has been used extensively since the 1990s.
By having this treatment the diseased cell is destroyed. As opposed to human cells, fungi possess a cell wall. The cell wall is stained with a photo-sensitizing dye that is harmless to human cells therefore; selectively makes the fungi sensitive to a specific wavelength of light and means 99.9% of all bacteria and fungi will be destroyed after the exposure to the PACTMed light device.
The PACT Antifungal nail gel
This has been specially developed for the application on the toenails, by only working in combination with exposure to light from the PACTMed machine light device.
What are fungal nails?
Nails infected with fungus are often discoloured brittle or thickened. The severity can range from; mild, moderate and severe.
It is always important to get any type of fungal nail treated as a mild infection can often progress into more severe infections therefore; making it longer to treat.
You will have three treatment within seven days and then one treatment every week for the following 3 weeks, then return within a month for a re-assessment of the fungal nail/s.
All shoes will be sanitized on each visit.
Images will be taken to monitor the progress of the nail growth.
With every treatment we have in life; there is no guarantee that it will always be 100% but; we at The Southdown Podiatry Clinic are committed to do our BEST for you, to make you a happy customer.
